Your Chip and PIN Credit Card offers you a more secure form of payment, reducing the risk of fraud with the added security of a 4-digit PIN. You must enter your PIN to validate all Card Purchases and ATM Cash Withdrawals, instead of signing purchase receipts as you may have done so far*. If your Card is lost or stolen, your PIN prevents it from being used for any fraudulent purposes.

To receive your Chip and PIN-enabled Credit Card, you must set up your 4-digit PIN immediately. If you are an existing American Express Gold Credit or Blue from American Express Cardmember, your current Card will be deactivated if you do not set up your PIN by 1st October 2010.

*Some merchants may require you to provide your signature if their point-of-sale terminal is not chip-enabled.

A word of caution:

For your protection, do not write your PIN down or tell anyone of your PIN.
